The mantra of kugongewa ni constant
A chorus rises, of loyalty frayed.
The mantra beats like a drumming heart,
"Kugongewa ni constant," a bitter art.
I. The Breaking of Eden
Once, the hearth was sacred,
A garden lush with promises untainted.
But famine crept, the fruits waned thin,
And love's soil cracked where trust had been.
She, the keeper of the fig leaves' fold,
Now seeks rivers where silver flows.
And he, the builder of walls and towers,
Stumbles, his crown weighed down by hours.
II. The Dance of Deceit
The mantra sways in the village square,
Draped in silks of scandal, the crowd laid bare.
"It is justice," some say, "a punishment deserved,"
For dreams deferred and duties unserved.
He tills the land of endless grind,
Yet finds her grazing where wealth reclines.
Her laughter echoes in another’s arms,
As his ego crumbles, a breached alarm.
III. Society's Wager
The elders sit beneath the baobab shade,
Counting sins as if debts unpaid.
“It is constant,” they nod, their wisdom worn,
As fidelity's garment is further torn.
The young ones watch with smirks and sighs,
Casting love in cynical eyes.
For gold buys silence, and hunger breeds,
A hunger not of mouths, but needs.
IV. The Soliloquy of the Scarred
Shall he sing of betrayal beneath the moon?
Or mend his worth with silver spoons?
Does she weave freedom into her sighs,
Or drown in guilt where her lover lies?
In the mirror of days, both stand alone,
Casting stones from houses of bone.
Yet the mantra roars, a fire untamed,
A cycle repeating, a love defamed.
V. The Epilogue of Hearts
So here we stand in the market of lust,
Where loyalty bows to the weight of dust.
"Kugongewa ni constant," they chant in refrain,
A melody bitter, of pleasure and pain.
But beneath this song, a question persists,
Can love rebirth, or does it desist?
For in the ashes of trust lies a spark,
That may yet rekindle the flame in the dark.
